EKIN BEZIRGANOGLU / MEZZOSOPRANO

Ekin Bezirganoğlu was born in 1985 in Izmir, and began her musical life in 1999 in Izmir Umran Baradan Anatolian Fine Arts High School by playing the violin and piano. While in the high school, she had a strong aspiration for singing and she took her first singing lessons from Izmir State Opera and Ballet (IZDOB) artist Özlem Çabuk.

In 2005, she began her studies in Izmir Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory Opera program in the Performing Arts Department. She kept studying with Nurgun Baburhan, a soloist of Izmir State Opera and Ballet (IZDOB).

In 2007, she made her debut in the operas of “Carmen” and “Lucia Di Lammermoor” in Summer Arts Festival in the USA.

In 2009, while she was still a student in the third grade, she began to work in IZDOB as a contracted artist. IZDOB 23rd International Izmir Festival took place in the same year and she took the stage with “Imeneo” under the baton of conductor Paolo Villa.

Moreover, she took the stage in the play “Kadının Fendi Kadıyı Yendi” under the baton of conductor Gagliardo Varas and the musical “Defol-u Zevkler” under the directing of Asst. Prof. Alper Kazancıoğlu. She also performed “Carmen” as a soloist in company with Dokuz Eylül Symphony Orchestra.

In 2010, she was awarded the third place in the International Sedat Güzin Lied Competition. She also won the Jury’s Special Award with “Best Interpretation of Turkish Music”.

By the time she graduated from university, she had added many pieces in Italian, German, French, Russian, English, Spanish and Turkish to her repertoire. She participated in more than 30 concerts and attended many workshops.

After her graduation, she continued her singing lessons with Prof. Dr. Güzin Gürel from Istanbul University State Conservatory.

She is currently working as a singing instructor and continues her independent work in Berlin, Germany (2022) and Turkey with the Istanbulied duo project, of which she is one of the founders.
