SENEM ZEYNEP ERCAN / PIANO

She began her piano studies in Bursa with Fethiye Sanlıkol. She graduated from Istanbul Anatolian Fine Arts High School and Marmara University Department of Music. Moreover, she continued her piano studies with composer Ali Darmar between the years of 1992 and 2006.

In 2002, she finished her master studies in ITU MIAM (Center for Advanced Studies in Music) by studying “piano performance” under the supervising of pianist and State Artist Ayşegül Sarıca. Then she began her doctoral studies in the same institution and she got her PhD Degree in 2011.

She continued her doctoral program with a scholarship from Memphis University, USA for 2006-2008. Here she worked with pianist Sam Viviano. Moreover, she had the chance to work with pianists/pedagogues like Sheila Page, Catherine Vickers, and Pamela Mia Paul. She participated in many solo concerts, chamber concerts and studio recordings. She did her first recordings of contemporary Turkish and American composers. In 2012, she participated in the recording of chamber music pieces from contemporary German and Turkish composers in Istanbul and Essen.

She performed chamber music concerts in Borusan Music House, Karşıyaka Opera House, Izmir Ahmet Adnan Saygun Concert Hall, and within the scope of Istanbul Philarmony Concerts.

She worked as an instructor in ITU Turkish Music Conservatory and gave piano lessons. Along with her independent works, she is also a private piano instructor.

She taught at ITU TMDK between 2010 and 2012 and at Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory between 2017-2021 as a contracted faculty member. She has been working as a doctoral faculty member at ÇOMÜ State Conservatory since 2021.
 

Ercan took part in Turkey's leading stages with the duo İSTANBULİED, which she founded with Mezzo soprano Ekin Bezirganoğlu in 2013.
